Behind the Lens of Little Rose Photography

Hi there, I’m erica!

first, let me tell you about my why.

I won’t go on too much about myself here, but I can’t go without saying that my biggest inspiration for my art has always been my kids.

This probably sounds cliché, but in a world where everything moves entirely too fast, they are my reminder to slow down and enjoy the life happening in front of my eyes. In my almost 13 years of motherhood, I have found that the bigger picture isn’t difficult to remember-- their first cry, first laugh, first steps; so many firsts. But it takes a conscious effort to hold onto the little pieces of the puzzle, too.

Life is too short not to stop and admire their long eyelashes while they’re sleeping, or the way their freckles glow under the evening sun, or the hand that once wrapped around your finger now swallowing yours in those rare moments they still let you hold it. Every single facial expression, sloppy kiss, look of awe and wonder, and tug on your arm is valuable because it’s the little things that make up the bigger picture of who they are now and who they will become tomorrow.

As moms, we work so hard to make sure we’re doing everything the “right” way, and as far as I know, that part of the job description never goes away. But in the eyes of our children, what really keeps their world spinning is simply the way we love them. One of the best gifts you can give your children, and yourself, is the ability to hold onto these memories long after the moment has passed. We're so busy looking toward the future that we forget to see the magic unfolding right in front of us. After all, now is all we've ever really had.

if you feel compelled to know more:

When I’m not shooting, editing, importing, culling, editing again, planning, cleaning, getting my kids snacks, and so on, you might find me sitting at the piano playing my little heart out. Photography and music are what makes my soul sing. I’ll also admit, at risk of sounding like an old woman, that I spend way too much time admiring the clouds and noticing that no two sunsets ever look the same. When I’m not busy working, or doing introverted, elderly-ish activities, you might find me at the baseball field or basketball court cheering on my son, or supporting my daughter at the theater in one of her musical productions. My other daughter is probably sitting as close to me as possible because she would literally crawl into my skin if she could.

One thing I know for sure: even when I’m not actively creating, the wheels are always turning. Inspiration has a funny way of hiding around every corner.

meet my assistant, natalie!

Natalie joined the Little Rose Photography team in 2023 and has been my biggest asset and cheerleader ever since. She handles a lot of the backend work including sending invoices, contracts, emails, and scheduling. She does a lot of client interaction and chances are, if you contact me for a session, she will be the first to reach out to you in about 4.7 seconds flat. Natalie is so helpful and personable, and is honestly the driving force keeping this ship afloat. If you have the opportunity to interact with her at any point during your booking process, please don’t forget to give her a little extra appreciation where it’s deserved!

If you’ve made it this far, thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and my business. By choosing me as your photographer, you’re directly supporting not only my dream, but my family as well-- and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
